New York is intoxicating, it affects all your senses and you either love it or hate it. I love New York and in the eighties made many a trip there. Going back after almost a decade of absence, I had an eager sense of anticipation, tinged with some foreboding, afraid that it may have lost its magical, heady appeal after such a long parting. My fears were unwarranted and I enjoyed every moment of my time there including experiencing the fury of  Hurricane Floyd which blew in on my penultimate day there. 

My painting of New York is thus from the Met's rooftop as seen by Abakonowicz's headless figure, with Floyd menacingly heading in.
